False Claims Act Settlements and Judgments for Fiscal Year 2022 Exceed $2 Billion

The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced on February 7, 2023 that settlements and judgments under the False Claims Act (FCA) exceeded $2.2 billion in the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2022, with $1.7 billion in healthcare collections making up the bulk of the FCA settlements and judgments, and included fraud in Medicaid and the Medicare Advantage program, overpayments, unnecessary services and substandard care and unlawful kickbacks.
